RED ROBIN PRODUCTIONS

We believe in a world where singular perspectives can be shared with as many people as possible. We tell stories, drawn from personal social realities and conveyed through dance, visual art and moving image, that invoke collective empathy.

Our values are: Communication – we prioritise open working culture and take time to hear each other’s perspectives and ideas.

Exploration – we foster a safe, supportive environment for creating, learning and evolving.

Respect – we value each other’s expertise, ways of seeing and diverse lived experiences.

Reflexivity – we take an adaptive and responsive approach to our practice, evaluating and questioning how we work.

Sensitivity – we listen to one another, are receptive to the power dynamics in a space, and do not participate in extractive processes.

Reciprocity – we ground our interactions in trust and cooperation, we ‘pay it forward’ in a continuum of goodwill and generosity.

Our work is supported by Arts Council England, the Abderrahim Crickmay Charitable Settlement, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and others.

Our current work PIA is co-commissioned by the Barbican and Barnsley Civic and will premiere in Autumn 2026. We are developing a solo work Chinese Laundry that is scheduled for an Autumn 2027 tour.

PIA

PIA is a live dance and music production by choreographer Katya Bourvis, in collaboration with creative producer Tala Lee-Turton and composer Hannah Peel.

A 17-piece brass band performs Hannah’s critically acclaimed Mary Casio: Journey To Cassiopeia, exploring the ephemeral nature of human existence, memory and imagination. The production portrays Barnsley woman, Pia, over three generations of her life as her mind journeys amongst the collieries of her hometown and vivid dreams of space travel.

PIA is commissioned by the Barbican and Barnsley Civic. The work is supported by Arts Council England, the Abderrahim Crickmay Charitable Settlement and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

Tickets –  Premiere at the Barbican 23rd October 2026

CHINESE LAUNDRY

Developed from an award-winning short film by Patricia Zhou and Tala Lee-Turton, Chinese Laundry tells the story of Tala’s Chinese family, second generation immigrants from Hong Kong who grew up in South Yorkshire, in a Barnsley takeaway shop. The production is set in a dry cleaners, a business formed by Tala’s father in the 1980s, and the Peak District, reflecting the cyclical banality and frustration experienced from within the daily grind of the dry cleaners, contrasting with aspirations to feel freely Chinese and British and part of the richness that is the surrounding geography. Chinese Laundry seeks to share its immigrant story as a fantastical visual celebration of multifaceted South Yorkshire ESEA life.

SPECTATORS

SPECTATORS is a visual art narrative by Tala Lee-Turton.

Created at a residency with Invisible Flock at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, it explores self-portraiture through analogue media and movement.
